Six Word Memoir
Always looking out harms the in.

(Untitled)
Before she died we were normal.
Like a ship with a captain.
Like a compass with a rose.
Like a body with arms.
Before she died I was happy.
Like a college graduate.
Like that kitten on YouTube.
Like the first day of vacation.

After she died we became an oddity.
Like a ghost ship.
Like a black hole.
Like an amputee.
And I was exsanguinated.
Like an orphan.
Like a suicide note.
Like a natural disaster.

Work In Progress for her fourth birthday:
Emily
Darling child with sunset hair
Crinkled eyes on custard cheeks
Bouncing like a balloon on the ocean
